…......Over heard on the beach during the San Onofre Surf Club Contest....

"After surfing one afternoon at Haleiwa, Manuel found a bottle while walking up the beach with his surfboard...."

He opened the bottle and out popped a Genie who granted him two wishes for releasing him from his glass prison. Manuel thought long and hard and then told the Genie he wanted him to build a freeway from Haleiwa to his homeland of Portugal so he could drive there. You see, Manuel didn't trust airplanes.

The Genie pondered and suggested that Manuel wish for something else because of the difficulty in making a freeway from Haleiwa all the way to Portugal. The Genie asked him what he wanted for his second wish. Manuel thought about it for several minutes, and then told the Genie if he had to give up his first wish that for his second wish he wanted to be the smartest person on earth. The Genie immediately asked Manual how many lanes he wanted on the freeway."
